About Bottling Machines

A bottling machine performs one or more of the processes required to fill a bottle and prepare the bottle and its contents for commercial sale. Some of the more common processes bottling machines perform are filling bottles, capping bottles, and labeling bottles.

There are many types of bottling machines involved in the bottling process. Some bottling machines perform several or even all of the bottling processes. Most bottling machines perform a single bottling process and are used in tandem with other bottling machines to perform many or all of the bottling processes.

By combining bottling machines with bottling equipment such as cap feeders, bottle conveyors and accumulation tables, complete bottling lines can be created. This page provides descriptions of many types of bottling machines and automatic bottling equipment, discusses their specific functions, and shows how they can be integrated to create fully automated bottling lines.

Automatic Filling Machines

Automatic filling machines are often placed at or near the beginning of an automatic bottling line.  Empty bottles are transported through an automatic filling machine by a star wheel or conveyor.  The filling machine fills the bottles and then releases control of the filled bottles back to the conveyor or star wheel which will then transport the bottles to the next fully automatic bottling machine on the bottling line.

Cap Feeders

Filled bottles are transported through a cap feeder by a conveyor or star wheel. As the bottles pass through the cap feeder, the cap feeder places caps onto the containers and then releases control of the bottles back to the conveyor or star wheel. The containers are then typically transported to an automatic capping machine where the caps are tightened onto the containers.

Automatic Capping Machines

After the bottles have been filled and caps have been preplaced onto the bottles by a cap feeder, the bottles will be transported through an automatic capping machine. The capping machine will tighten the caps and then release control of the capped bottles back to the conveyor or star wheel which will then transport the bottles to the next automatic bottling equipment on the bottling line.

Accumulation Tables

Accumulation tables can be placed at various locations along a bottling line to facilitate the flow of bottles. When placed at the beginning of the line, they enable bottles to be quickly and efficiently added to the line. In the middle of the line, these tables prove valuable in addressing production bottlenecks and handling service-related issues. At the end of the line, accumulation tables serve to provide an outlet so finished product can be promptly removed from the line.

Bottle Conveyors

A bottle conveyor is used to transport bottles through automated bottling lines. Bottle conveyors play a key role as they are the means by which all of the automatic bottling equipment on the line are connected and integrated into one continuous bottle packaging line.

Bottling Lines

A bottling line streamlines the entire bottling process through the systematic arrangement and interconnection of numerous bottling machines and equipment. The integration of these machines not only boosts productivity but also minimizes the need for manual intervention in the bottling process, reducing the risk of errors and ensuring consistent product quality.

How To Order a Bottling Machine

If you are interested in purchasing a bottling machine, we will require samples of your caps, containers, and in some cases your product. This will allow us to test the bottling equipment of your choice with your specific product to ensure that you will be very pleased with your purchase. If you would like, we will be happy to send you videos of the bottling equipment processing your containers so you can visualize exactly how it will integrate into your bottle packaging line. In addition, we will record, save, and share with you all of the recommended settings for the equipment so you can get up and running quickly.

When sending samples, please include the following:

  • Your complete contact information.
  • Please indicate which type of bottling equipment you are interested in.
  • 15 empty containers for up to five unique applications.
  • 50 corresponding caps for each unique application.
  • (Conditional) If you are interested in a filling machine and you have a highly viscous, or otherwise challenging product, we may have you send an amount of your product that would be sufficient for testing with the filling machines. If this applies to any of your applications, please call before sending your samples so we can discuss.
  • (Conditional) If you are interested in a cap feeder, please send 250 caps and 25 bottles for each unique application to allow for thorough testing.
